Step
by step, BUSHWORKS is contributing towards building a new future for our
communities.

BUSHWORKS, home of Bush Radio and an ever-expanding list of social service
programmes, is building itself a solid future in Cape Town.
Having begun as a singular voice in the local media actively participating
in the struggle against apartheid, today BUSHWORKS continues to empower
communities to take up the challenges of building a new democratic society.
Farah Moosa, Bush Radio's first station
manager, takes some time out with Managing Director Zane Ibrahim.
Our
BUSHWORKS programmes range from broadcasting training to peer monitoring
from acknowledging our heroes to celebrating the next generation.

Local
and international support is largely responsible for BUSHWORKS'
phenomenal growth. Now we are poised to enter an exciting new phase
of expansion. A window of opportunity has opened that will enable
a long-cherished dream to become a reality.

BUSHWORKS is embarking on a campaign for long-term self-sustainability,
self-reliance and independence.
As
a symbol of our ability to operate on our own strength, BUSHWORKS
is working towards purchasing our own residence.

For over ten
years, we have been renting our headquarters and it is becoming very clear
that to continue doing so will hinder - for obvious reasons - our development.

In commitment to continuing our work independently, we plan to purchase
the building.
The BRICKS PROJECT will be a fundraising effort to start off our campaign
for self-sustainability.
BUY A BRICK AND HELP US ACHIEVE OUR DREAM
When you buy a brick, you are actively supporting our quest for self-sustainability.
You are not only becoming part of the BUSHWORKS' wide-spread network of
local and international support, you also become a physical part of BUSHWORKS.

In the building, each sponsor will be commemorated with their names on
the very bricks of our wall, which has been painstakingly created by staff
and friends, for all to look at and be reminded of what can be accomplished
with united effort.
WHOEVER YOU ARE AND WHEREVER YOU ARE, THERE IS A BRICK FOR YOU!
World-renowned jazz musician Robbie Jansen with Station Manager Dr Tanja
Bosch, Logistics Manager Adrian Louw and Josh Ogada, who is co-ordinating
the station's audience research.
The Democracy Wall will be built with three different kind of bricks.
The SILVER bricks will be dedicated to individuals whereas the GOLD ones
will commemorate the names of NGOs and associations. Finally, the PLATINUM
bricks will be ascribed to Corporate and Governmental entities.

YOU BUY
A BRICK, WE SEND YOU YOUR OWN BUSH RADIO

Wire art, unique to Southern Africa and largely unavailable beyond our
borders, is a living testimony to the industriousness and creative spirit
of our people.
Born in the shanty towns and baptised on the streets, today this genre
is a thriving and legitimate art form in its own right.
Some of the interns that have been involved with Bush Radio over the last
couple of months.
By acquiring this wire radio, you are supporting a social upliftment and
community development project.

Its main aim is to provide skills training, raw materials and support necessary
to enable over 70 formerly unemployed South African women and men to channel
their natural creative energies into a vibrant art form.
Wire art illustrates perfectly Bush Radio's mission. Everyday, we
are striving to ensure that communities take part in producing ethical,
creative and responsible radio.
We encourage them to communicate with each other and to take part in decisions
that affect their lives.
In this way, communities will affirm their own dignity and identity, and
promote social responsibility and critical thinking.
